National Volunteer – Education Specialist

About the role

The National Volunteer Education Specialist will work with the Ministry of Education in Malawi to support the BeFIT programme. This role focuses on building capacity at district, zonal and school levels, helping teachers and school managers integrate tablet‑based learning into everyday teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and guidance to District Education Officers, Primary Education Advisors and school managers.
• Design and deliver training sessions for in‑service teachers and student teachers on tablet‑based learning tools.
• Assist schools in embedding digital resources into curricula and teaching practices.
• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the BeFIT programme to ensure quality and sustainability.

Required profile

• Experience training and mentoring primary school teachers (both in‑service and student teachers).
• At least two years of motorcycle riding experience with a valid licence obtained within the last two years.
• Commitment to VSO’s values of openness, resilience, collaborative change and knowledge sharing.

Required skills

• Ability to facilitate tablet‑based learning integration in classroom settings.
