Long Term Agreement Construction Engineering Consultant (Remote, Malawi)

About the role

UNICEF Malawi seeks an experienced engineering consultant to provide on‑demand technical support for its infrastructure programme. The role is remote and open to Malawian nationals, focusing on schools, health facilities and community institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide design support, technical review, validation and engineering oversight for institutional facilities.
• Evaluate proposed designs and feasibility studies submitted by implementing partners and contractors.
• Ensure all infrastructure complies with national guidelines, international best practices and UNICEF’s sustainability, safety, equity and climate‑resilience standards.
• Prepare technical monitoring reports for remote rural construction projects.
• Offer advisory services and capacity‑building to government authorities, NGOs and other local stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s level or higher) in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
