Deputy Finance Manager – Field Only

About the role

The Deputy Finance Manager will oversee the Finance Department’s accounting operations and financial reporting for high‑quality programs serving the poor and vulnerable. This role ensures accurate, timely documentation and supports strong financial stewardship across the Country Program.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounting processes, maintain controls, and ensure compliance with CRS policies, GAAP, donor regulations and legal requirements.
• Maintain and update the SunSystems accounting package, including exchange rates, cost allocation tools and transaction posting.
• Review and analyze financial reports, prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations, and resolve accounting issues.
• Provide advice and capacity‑building to managers, staff and sub‑recipients on financial transaction compliance and internal controls.
• Generate and disseminate accurate financial reports on schedule and support analysis for staff and sub‑recipients.
• Maintain an organized filing system for supporting documentation to ensure audit‑trail reliability.
• Monitor cash flows, prepare bank reconciliations and forecast cash needs to ensure sufficient operating funds.

Required profile

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration, or a professional accounting qualification (CPA/ACCA or equivalent).
• Minimum three years of experience in a similar role, preferably with an international NGO.
• Excellent analytical ability, strong attention to detail and ethical conduct.
• Proactive, resourceful and collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SunSystems financial accounting package or similar software.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Knowledge of budgeting, expense analysis and accounting principles.
