Kitchen Assistant

About the role

CURE is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support daily food preparation and maintain high standards of hygiene in its Blantyre hospital kitchen. The role involves assisting chefs, cleaning kitchen areas, and ensuring that meals are served promptly to staff, patients, and guardians.

Key responsibilities

• Assist chefs in preparing and serving meals.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen utensils, equipment, walls, cupboards, windows, sinks, floors, and drains.
• Unload deliveries, organize the storeroom, and ensure proper food storage.
• Collect, wash, and sanitize pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery.
• Perform daily and weekly deep‑cleaning tasks, including wall and cupboard cleaning.
• Support food safety, storage, and hygiene practices.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary qualification in Housekeeping or a related field; a certificate in cookery is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a busy kitchen, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Willingness to learn and a heart for service.
