Project/Grant Accountant (Field Position)

About the role

Catholic Relief Services is seeking a Project/Grant Accountant to support a multi‑country child development, care, and protection initiative. The role focuses on the financial management of the assigned grant, ensuring compliance with CRS accounting standards, GAAP, donor requirements, and local regulations throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and monitor accounting and financial reporting procedures for grant sub‑recipients and partners.
• Maintain grant account data in the Oracle financial accounting system.
• Review and validate supporting documentation before processing transactions.
• Record transactions, analyze accounts for irregularities, and prepare corrective entries.
• Assess sub‑recipient financial processes and build capacity in accounting practices.
• Track disbursement and receipt schedules, alert staff of upcoming payments, and ensure timely liquidations.
• Prepare periodic and ad‑hoc financial reports, conduct variance analysis, and assist with budget maintenance.
• Provide guidance on financial policies and procedural compliance to grant staff and partners.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Experience working with donor‑funded projects, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, donor regulations, and grant financial management.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently in a field environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Oracle financial accounting software.
• Ability to prepare journal entries, financial analyses, and variance reports.
• Knowledge of grant accounting standards and reporting requirements.
