Finance Officer – Fixed Term – Lilongwe

About the role

The Finance Officer will support the effective stewardship of UNICEF Malawi’s resources by delivering high‑quality financial management, accounting, treasury and compliance services. Reporting to the Budget & Finance Specialist, the role ensures that programme delivery is underpinned by sound financial planning, budgeting, monitoring and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of budgets.
• Process financial transactions, maintain accurate accounting records and reconcile accounts.
• Support cash and treasury management, including cash forecasting and bank account monitoring.
• Review financial reports and implementing partner transactions, identify exceptions and recommend corrective actions.
• Contribute to period‑end closure activities and ensure compliance with organisational policies, IPSAS and local regulations.
• Provide inputs for donor and statutory reporting, support audit exercises and promote ethical financial practices.
