Finance Associate (G-6) – Fixed Term – Lilongwe

About the role

UNICEF Malawi is seeking a Finance Associate (G‑6) on a fixed‑term basis to strengthen financial accountability and operational efficiency. Reporting to the Budget & Finance Specialist, you will support a wide range of finance and accounting activities that enable effective programme delivery for children.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations and transaction records.
• Support budgeting, expense management and treasury functions.
• Ensure compliance with UNICEF financial policies and donor requirements.
• Assist with audit preparation and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
• Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders on financial procedures.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum secondary education.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in financial management, accounting, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, treasury or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of reconciliations.
• Financial reporting expertise.
• Transaction processing proficiency.
• Financial analysis capability.
