Chief of Party – Project Director, Child Development & Protection

About the role

CRS is seeking a senior leader to serve as Chief of Party for a multi‑country child development, care, and protection project in Malawi. The role provides overall strategic direction, ensures donor compliance, and drives high‑quality programming that strengthens child protection systems and supports vulnerable families.

Key responsibilities

• Lead relationship management with government ministries, civil society, FBOs, and community networks.
• Oversee full project lifecycle from design to close‑out, ensuring alignment with CRS quality standards and donor guidelines.
• Manage sub‑awards, consortium coordination, and integration of project processes with the global team.
• Supervise senior staff recruitment, performance, and well‑being; provide coaching and mentorship.
• Proactively address security risks and ensure a safe working environment.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing large‑scale humanitarian or development projects, preferably in child protection or early childhood development.
• Proven ability to engage high‑level government and donor stakeholders.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and team‑management skills.
• Demonstrated competence in donor compliance, sub‑award management, and risk mitigation.
