Pastry Chef – Malawi

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Pastry Chef to join our kitchen team in Malawi. You will be responsible for creating a wide range of breads, pastries, desserts and cakes while maintaining the highest quality standards in a remote camp environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and bake breads, pastries, desserts, cakes and other baked goods following standardized recipes.
• Control portion sizes, presentation and ensure consistent product quality.
• Monitor stock levels, ingredient quality and manage production requirements.
• Uphold food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards at all times.
• Minimise waste and manage resources efficiently.
• Support training and development of kitchen staff when needed.
• Operate equipment safely and ensure regular maintenance.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
• Baking or culinary qualification is advantageous.
• 2‑3 years of experience as a baker or pastry chef in a similar environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote camp setting.

Required skills

• Strong pastry and baking techniques.
• Knowledge of HACCP, food safety and quality control procedures.
