Instrumentation and Controls/SCADA Specialist

About the role

The Instrumentation and Controls/SCADA Specialist will design, develop and maintain control‑system solutions for irrigation schemes, including pumping stations, reservoirs, canals and distribution networks. The role combines engineering design, SCADA implementation, on‑site installation, commissioning and ongoing operational support.

Key responsibilities

• Develop control system architecture and specify instrumentation such as flow, pressure, level and water‑quality sensors.
• Prepare P&IDs, control philosophies, functional design specifications and I/O lists.
• Design, configure and program PLCs, RTUs and communication networks; develop SCADA platforms, HMI interfaces, dashboards and alarm management.
• Integrate telemetry (GPRS/3G/4G, radio, fiber, satellite) for remote monitoring and ensure cybersecurity and redundancy.
• Supervise on‑site installation, conduct factory and site acceptance tests, lead commissioning, loop checking and instrument calibration.
• Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams, create O&M manuals and training material.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic engineers, review contractor submissions and support procurement activities.
• Prepare technical reports, as‑built documentation and project progress updates.

Required profile

• Experience designing control‑system architecture for water‑related projects.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing SCADA solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control equipment.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage documentation.
