Humanitarian Management Internship – Africa Region

About the role

The Danish Red Cross Country Office in Malawi is seeking a motivated university student to join its team as an intern. This role offers hands‑on exposure to humanitarian programme management within the Community Resilience Programme, covering livelihoods, health, empowerment, youth, and disaster risk reduction.

Key responsibilities

• Shadow the Country Manager and programme staff to understand day‑to‑day operations.
• Support proposal and report writing, including data collection and processing.
• Assist in creating infographics and social‑media posts to raise brand awareness.
• Help organise field visits, workshops and logistical arrangements for visitors.
• Take minutes in internal and external meetings and follow up on action items.
• Contribute to donor‑relation activities, such as reviewing documents for ECHO or DANIDA.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Danish university programme.
• Interest in humanitarian work and international development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and support a multidisciplinary team.
