Engineering Manager – Hotel Facilities

About the role

The Engineering Manager will lead all engineering and maintenance activities for the Protea Hotel by Marriott in Lilongwe. You will ensure the building, grounds and physical plant operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with all regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the physical plant, including HVAC‑R, refrigeration, plumbing, water‑treatment and electrical systems.
• Develop and manage the engineering budget, capital‑expenditure projects and preventative‑maintenance plans.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, fire‑safety standards and energy‑conservation initiatives.
• Coordinate service contracts, supervise external vendors and manage parts‑inventory.
• Lead emergency‑response efforts and conduct regular property inspections.
• Plan and supervise renovation or new‑construction projects, handling bids and contractor supervision.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with 3 years of engineering‑maintenance experience, **or** a 2‑year degree in Building & Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, etc., with 1 year experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Strong knowledge of safety, regulatory and asset‑protection practices.
